Claude & Beyonce go for a walk in nature.
1. put on mute. play with Debussy's 'Arabesque'. Watch the tone move through the words. look back and forth between background footage of 'nature' and words.
2. sing the lyrics with arabesque in background.
3. watch content of lyrics, background footage, and piano move through the words.
4. try to let go of preconceived inflections of words.
5. let the musical tones of arabesque speak the words.
6. watch words begin to look like piano keys.
7. watch tone give character to words.
8. forget what the words mean.
9. then pay attention to shape of words, & then to each letter.
10.watch shapes of letters become tonal.
11.watch the words no longer mean what they mean because of tone.
12.watch movement of landscape, waterfall, monkey, iguana & jellyfish look so beautiful with arabesque.
13.notice the season change.
14.say someone's name out loud who reminds you of the song.
15.say someone's name silently who you love throughout the piece.
16.call someone to say their name and hang up.
17.email their name back to them.
18.take off mute and play Debussy & Beyonce together.
19.listen to the 150 year difference.
20.listen to Debussy's reaction to Beyonce wanting him to say her name.
21.listen to Debussy trying to say her name.
22.listen to Beyonce kick it with Debussy.
23.imagine how he would say her name, with what 3 notes?
24.close your eyes.
25.hear the notes.
26.open your eyes.
27.go to nature and say the person's name.
